2. Membership

2.1 Eligibility: Membership is open to police practitioners, academics, researchers, and other individuals or organisations interested in evidence-based policing. The SEBP reserves the right to approve, refuse, or revoke membership at its discretion.

2.2 Membership categories: The SEBP currently offers free membership to all eligible individuals. The SEBP will not introduce a paid membership tier without prior explicit consent from members.

2.3 Code of conduct: Members must uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and respect in all interactions within the SEBP’s platforms and events. Members must not engage in discrimination, harassment, or any form of misconduct. Members are expected to respect intellectual property rights and confidentiality where applicable. Any misconduct, including misuse of the SEBP’s resources or bringing the organisation into disrepute, may lead to termination of membership.

2.4 Use of membership: Membership does not confer any right to represent the SEBP in an official capacity without prior authorisation. Members must not use SEBP branding, materials, or affiliations for personal or commercial gain without permission.

2.5 Member engagement and responsibilities: Members are encouraged to actively engage in SEBP activities, including discussions, events, and knowledge sharing. Members should support the SEBP’s mission to promote the use, communication, and production of research evidence in policing.

2.6 Termination of membership: Members may voluntarily withdraw their membership at any time. The SEBP reserves the right to terminate membership in cases of misconduct, breach of these terms, or any actions contrary to the interests of the SEBP. Appeals against membership termination can be submitted in writing for review by the SEBP Chief Operating Officer.

2.7 The SEBP retains membership data for as long as necessary for purposes of its operation and legal obligations. For more information, please read the SEBP's privacy notice.
