SEBP global collaboration

SEBP may have been founded in the UK but the evidence-based policing movement is global and Societies have been formed in Australia and New Zealand, Canada, the Netherlands and the USA.

In 2024, the respective societies agreed to form a global coalition - the Global Societies of Evidence-Based Policing (GSEBP) - to champion the role of applied research in policing. This global collaboration seeks to build international networks and expand the scope of impact to new countries and new sectors of the policing community.

GSEBP objectives:

  • Facilitate the exchange of research, what-works, and data-driven insights among policing and law enforcement agencies globally

  • Develop training programs and educational resources to promote the understanding and application of evidence-based policing

  • Encourage the integration of rigorous applied scientific research into policing policies and practices

  • Foster initiatives that enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and fairness of policing delivery

  • Promote ethical standards and human rights in the development and implementation of policing strategies

  • Cultivate partnerships between policing organisations, academic institutions, policymakers, and communities

  • Actively support and amplify the activities of all SEBP's, including conferences and the use of the global collaboration
